Welcome to the Meridian Hawks Band Page!!

Hello!  My name is Mr. Tony Hicks, and I am your Meridian Band Director.  I can’t begin to explain how excited I am to be a member of your community!

I am a graduate of Ramsey Community High School in Ramsey, Illinois.  After high school, I attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, where I majored in Music Education and studied Tuba with Professor Mark Moore.  I performed in countless ensembles including the Marching Illini, Basketball Band, Illini Symphony Orchestra, Concert Bands, Faculty Jazz Ensemble, and the world renowned University of Illinois Wind Ensemble under the director of Mr. James Keene.

My Illinois teaching experience began in the small town of Nokomis, Illinois where I taught for two years.  After that, I was the Vandalia High School and Fifth Grade band director for seven years.  During my nine years of teaching experience, my bands have performed at Busch Stadium for the St. Louis Cardinals Pregame, The Grand Ole Opry, The Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C., The McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago, National Outback Bowl Halftime in Tampa, FL., and the New Year’s Eve Parade in Tampa.  In 2005 my band captured the National Outback Bowl Parade Marching Championship in Tampa, FL.

Currently, I reside in Macon, Illinois.  I have a wife, two beautiful children, and a Golden Retriever name “Buster”.  I enjoy fishing, hunting, gardening, and singing country music while playing guitar.

I look forward to working with everyone in the Meridian community!  This is an amazing district and there are so many exciting things to look forward to!
